Trust and Estate Administration

In their estate plans, people often appoint family members or other individuals as “personal representative” or “executor” of their estates, or as trustees of their “living” or “testamentary” trusts. We help them carry out their legal duties, which include such things as:

  • Guiding a trustee through his or her responsibilities under the trust instrument. This includes such things as identifying the trust assets, administering business interests held in trust, seeking guidance on tax and accounting issues, getting help investing trust assets, paying debts and taxes, and making distributions to trust beneficiaries.

  • Admitting a will to probate and obtaining formal authorization for the personal representative to administer the probate estate. This includes things such as filings with the Probate Court, notices to creditors and beneficiaries, identifying and collecting assets, preparation of inventories and accountings, paying debts and taxes, and distributing the estate to the beneficiaries.

  • Generally making sure your estate planning intentions are carried out.
